About Mrs. DeBoer
Who am I?
My name is Mrs. Stacy DeBoer. I grew up in Belding, Michigan but now live in DeWitt. I am married to my husband, Mike. We have two children- Landon is 2.5 years old and Owen is 6 months old.
Why am I a teacher?
My dream of becoming a teacher began when I first started school—maybe even in First Grade! Would you believe me if I told you I used to set my stuffed animals and dolls in “desks”, and then use some old books and a chalkboard to “teach” them for hours? Well, I did! I might have even talked my little brother into being one of my students on occasion. Being a teacher was always the job I wanted to have someday, but I became even more passionate about it as I grew older. I realized that there is something magical about learning, especially when you are learning everything for the first time. There is excitement, happiness, satisfaction, and pride that comes when a child reads a more difficult book, writes a more-focused story, solves a tough math problem, or simply learns something new. I love being a part of that!
What experience and credentials do I have?
I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and teaching certifications in elementary education and language arts (2006), as well as a Master of Education degree in early childhood education (2014). I have 9 years of teaching experience, which include teaching Second Grade, Reading, and First Grade. I have also been a private tutor for several students ages PreK-2nd grade.

What do I hope for this year?
